No Bubbles for Isaac

Isaac is 21 months old and afraid of bubbles. I guess I had never given him a bubble bath. Not that I am against giving bubble baths but I have always used organic soaps for him and since it's more expensive, I couldn't see throwing money down the drain (ha!) using it for a bubble bath since it takes so much to make bubbles. Yes, I am extremely conservative. I have had these soaps since he was born since I use it so sparingly! Anyhow, last night I decided that using the other bubble bath stuff in the bathroom wouldn't hurt (just once) so I made a nice warm bubble bath for him. At first he seemed very interested in them and he was playing with them. Next I put some bubbles in my hand and blew them...he did NOT like that...he was so scared, he screamed and cried. I took him out, calmed him down, drained the tub and started all over again...this time no bubbles. He was happy. He actually learned the word "bubble" in the process, so that was good! We'll try the bubble bath again some other time!

Today I went to our Mommy Bible Study. When I picked Isaac up, the ladies that were working in the nursery said that they think it's time for Isaac to have a sibling (I totally agree)...they said he was going around to all the other children and giving them hugs and kisses...What a sweet boy!

Some Things

Well, I haven't been feeling real well for the past week or so, so it's been hard to even think about what to write on here...but here are a few random things that happened.

Since Isaac & I haven't been feeling real well, I decided to stay home from church with him while Chad took Tyler & Chloe. However, Isaac woke up pretty early so Chad took him downstairs and took care of him for most of the morning. At some point Chad came to our room to tell me that he made Isaac some ramen noodles for breakfast. My reaction wasn't very kind...(sorry Chad)...no offense to ramen noodles, I have it in my pantry for crying out loud! But the only reason I have it is for Chad to take to work and eat for "back-up" if there is nothing else for lunch that day, plus I was going to make my friends cole-slaw that calls for the noodles. The reason I was so upset was because it has no nutritional value and especially while he's not feeling well, he needs all the help he can get and ramen noodles isn't going to do it! Chad quickly went back downstairs and made some oatmeal for Isaac...(thank you honey)!

Shortly after, I got up and went downstairs. While all the kids were eating I asked Chad if we could talk in the other room for a second (to apologize for my reaction for feeding Isaac ramen noodles). Well, when we returned...Isaac spilled the remaining oatmeal out all over the place and of course, with Tyler & Chloe there laughing...he thought it was okay. He made a huge mess and daddy thought it was funny too so he took pictures.

I guess it wasn't too bad of a mess, but when you are not feeling well...everything seems like a bigger deal than it really is (at least for me)!
One more thing...
For many, many months now we've been trying to get Isaac to call me mommy and it just hasn't happen. Now he's said it many times but I don't think he's actually calling me mommy (I guess I could be wrong). Anyhow, a while back when we said "mommy", he said "daddy" and we laughed so EVERYTIME we say "say mommy" he says "daddy". Well, this morning he finally said mommy when I said "say mommy"! That made me feel so good...I made a huge deal out of it gave him a big hug and told him what a good boy he was. Then I tried it again and guess what he said...
"daddy!"
Oops, I almost forgot...Isaac has another tooth coming in this morning. That makes 14 teeth at 18 months!

Growing up...too quick!

Isaac is 18 months old today...October 22, 2009

We went to the doctor a week early for a check up to see if his ear infection was gone, and it was...Praise God! I asked the doctor if we could go ahead and do his 18 month check up then so we wouldn't have to make another trip to the doctor. He said no problem.

Weight: 24.2 (25%)
Height: 32 3/4" (50%-75%)
Head: 19" (50%)

What is Isaac up to at 18 months, let's see...

This is his "Surprised Look". He usually makes this face when he says "uh-oh" or hears something like the door bell ring or the ice maker making ice (it's kind of loud and scary)...

He loves to run and play tag. He started to head-butt his daddy when he'd ask for kisses. At first we thought it was cute but then he started to head-butt the wall, the floor and anything else he could, and hard...so we had to put an end to it (still working on it). He helps me take the trash out to the garage and also likes to throw away his dirty diapers. He is such a good little helper! He will not let me clip his toe nails, they look awful!
He is a constant mover. He loves his mommy & daddy! He misses his daddy since he works so much, but he gives him hugs and kisses on the phone during the day.

He likes to watch Wheel of Fortune. He calls out the letter "D" over and over again and claps when the contestants clap! It's adorable!
He's starting to say more words (that we understand) like "dadda" - "momma, momma, momma" - "uh, oh" - "juice please" - but he's still at the pointing and "ah" stage. He definetly understands what we are saying. When we ask him if he wants to swing, he runs for the back door. He goes to the bottom of the stairway when we ask him if he wants to take a bath and once he's upstairs he goes directly to his bathroom.

He loves to go up and down...and up and down...and up and down...the stairs (when we let him). He's lost his balance twice now but thankfully I've been able to stop him before getting to the bottom...ceramic tile. That would hurt!
There's so much more that our little 18 month old does but I just can't list them all. And I noticed that I didn't write down and of the disobedient things he does...well, that might be another post. We'll just focus on the cute and fun things for now!

Isaac's First Year

Since I got started a little late on blogging, I am trying to play "catch-up" and post some of my favorite pictures and memories. So for a while it might be a little out of order.

The following are pictures of Isaac in his first 12 months of life. I tried so hard to pick one per month but as you can see, I didn't succeed. Too many cute pictures to choose from.

I'll get to his 1st birthday soon!
