The Weekend

I am sure I won't post all of our weekends, however, this past weekend was pretty fun and eventful and took a few pictures while doing it...so I thought I'd share it.

Thursday night the Parents As Teachers Program, where I take Isaac once a week for play group, had a family night where they had a barnyard petting zoo...Tyler and Chloe were with us so all three kids had a really good time with the animals.

Here is Chloe holding "Max"...

If you look closely, Chloe is holding a little chick. The animals had it out for Isaac. The duck tried to bite him and one of the goats tried to head butt him...of course, Isaac thought it was funny...he never got hurt, thankfully!
Oh yeah, he fell in the mud while trying to play horse shoes with Tyler. It was cold and wet out there...so I am sure he was uncomfortable!
Isaac and me, after I cleaned him off. He still had mud caked on his head that I couldn't get out until his bath.
It's not very often that I get Chad in a picture...and I got several this weekend so I thought I'd share them!
Isaac was ready to go...

On Friday, we went to a Fall Festival at my parents church and my sister Jill was there doing face painting. Here is Chloe as a "Princess"

And Tyler chose Spiderman. I was very nervous about that red paint since we had pictures in the morning...but it came off!
Again, thank you Chad for getting in another picture! I love you...

Isaac on his first hay ride...even though you cannot tell - that is where we were in this picture. After the Fall Festival we all went to my parents, ate dinner, and hung out for a while and went home...late!

On Saturday, Grandma Newton took us to get pictures taken at JCPenny's. For Isaac's 18 months, and Tyler & Chloe's 2009 school pictures (we didn't like the way the actual school pictures turned out...so we thought we'd get them done elsewhere and they turned out great)!
After pictures we went to Chick-Fil-A. Then I went to Mardels to take advantage of there 25% off of the kids stuff while everyone stayed in the car. Afterwards, we spent the rest of the day at the Newtons.
I bought them these Veggie Tale figurines and they played with them all weekend. They really loved them and even asked me to take a picture of them!
Chad got sick on Saturday night...so he stayed home from church. I took everyone to church and it was an awesome service! When we got home the kids and I played games and did art projects while Chad slept on the couch. (I think it was God's way of telling him to slow down, since he won't do it on his own!).
Other than Chad gettting sick, we had a really nice weekend!

Growing up...too quick!

Isaac is 18 months old today...October 22, 2009

We went to the doctor a week early for a check up to see if his ear infection was gone, and it was...Praise God! I asked the doctor if we could go ahead and do his 18 month check up then so we wouldn't have to make another trip to the doctor. He said no problem.

Weight: 24.2 (25%)
Height: 32 3/4" (50%-75%)
Head: 19" (50%)

What is Isaac up to at 18 months, let's see...

This is his "Surprised Look". He usually makes this face when he says "uh-oh" or hears something like the door bell ring or the ice maker making ice (it's kind of loud and scary)...

He loves to run and play tag. He started to head-butt his daddy when he'd ask for kisses. At first we thought it was cute but then he started to head-butt the wall, the floor and anything else he could, and hard...so we had to put an end to it (still working on it). He helps me take the trash out to the garage and also likes to throw away his dirty diapers. He is such a good little helper! He will not let me clip his toe nails, they look awful!
He is a constant mover. He loves his mommy & daddy! He misses his daddy since he works so much, but he gives him hugs and kisses on the phone during the day.

He likes to watch Wheel of Fortune. He calls out the letter "D" over and over again and claps when the contestants clap! It's adorable!
He's starting to say more words (that we understand) like "dadda" - "momma, momma, momma" - "uh, oh" - "juice please" - but he's still at the pointing and "ah" stage. He definetly understands what we are saying. When we ask him if he wants to swing, he runs for the back door. He goes to the bottom of the stairway when we ask him if he wants to take a bath and once he's upstairs he goes directly to his bathroom.

He loves to go up and down...and up and down...and up and down...the stairs (when we let him). He's lost his balance twice now but thankfully I've been able to stop him before getting to the bottom...ceramic tile. That would hurt!
There's so much more that our little 18 month old does but I just can't list them all. And I noticed that I didn't write down and of the disobedient things he does...well, that might be another post. We'll just focus on the cute and fun things for now!

Cleaning the Carpet (trying to...)

I better grab some dark chocolate M&M's and some coffee...it's going to be a late night!

A few months ago, we borrowed Chad's parents carpet cleaner. I got a couple rooms done back then and quit because it was late at night and I wanted to go to bed. So the carpet cleaner made its way to the garage. Meanwhile, the living room carpet kept getting worse and worse and the only time I could clean the carpet is at night after Isaac is sleeping so that it can dry over night, and lately I've been so tired. Well, today I napped when he napped (that was awesome!) and Chad was going to work late so I decided that I would do it tonight. After moving all the furniture out (minus the couch), I got started a little after 10pm. I was almost done with half the living room and realized that the "recovery tank" was empty. Which means that the soapy water that I was spraying in the carpet was staying in the carpet. So, I called Chad...he tried to walk me through everything that he thought could be wrong...but no luck. So now he's on his way home to fit the problem. Poor guy. It's a good way to get him to come home but unfortunately he cannot just go to bed, he has to fix it so that I can finish what I started so our carpet won't get ruined (it's after midnight now).

As I am waiting for Chad to get home, I decide to vacuum the stairway with the hose. As I am doing so, I smell something burning. I looked down and realized only one of my socks was on the ground. Ha! The other one had been sucked up in the vacuum cleaner! This has nothing to do with the fact that the carpet cleaner is not working...I promise (I think)!

Okay...it's almost 2am and the job is done. I am not sure what he did to fix it, but he got it working. Thanks Chad...I owe you a back massage!

Birthday #1

Well, I thought since Isaac will be 18 months in a couple days I had better get something down for his 1st birthday...then we can move on!

We had two celebrations for Isaac's first birthday. The first was at my parents house. It was very nice, besides his Mommy & Daddy...Grandma & Grandpa Dany and Grandma & Grandpa Newton were there. Isaac's Aunt Jill & Aunt Danielle were there and of course, his Great Grandma (Huff) and Great Uncle Lenny were all there to celebrate his first year of life. We are so blessed to have this child in our lives. He's so special to us and we pray that he will follow God all of his days!

Angel Food Cake - Yummy...Mommy's Favorite! (Isaac's first introduction to real sugar, at least that I am aware of)!

Grandma & Grandpa Dany - Isaac - Grandma & Grandpa Newton. It is so awesome to have both our families here!
Mommy, Daddy & Isaac...so proud to be able to celebrate this special day with our little boy! We love him so very much.

The second party was at our house. We had quite a few friends there...The Parks, Hildebrant's, Smoliak's, Powell's, Moffatt's, Flores, Fuller's, Neales, (I hope I am not forgetting anyone)...the Newton's & the Dany's. It was a nice celebration!

Isn't this the coolest cake? My mom made it...thank you mommy! It was not only beautiful, but delicious too! Rib Crib catered the party. It went well with the "Western Theme".
Yee-Ha!
I just loved that cake...it took everything out of me to cut it (literally - the fondant was thick!)

Okay Isaac...that's enough cake for you for a while! Isaac has been to his share of birthday parties that now all he wants to do if he sees a candle lit...is blow it out (very cute)!

4x4 Coaster
The Newton's
Est. February 23, 2002
(4x4 Coaster)

The Custom Coasters are made on 4x4 tiles and are done in black & white with burnt edges which give it an antique look. I can put almost any picture on them (pictures without a lot of detail in the background work the best). You may use as many pictures as you'd like for them. I can also do them on a 6x6 tile and can be used as a trivet.

Pictures of your kids, a wedding photo, pets, a company logo, or your last name and wedding date are just some ideas, but if you come up with anything else, I will do my best to accomodate you.

The Cost:

$7.50 each (4x4)

$15.00 each (6x6)

*Plus shipping, if applicable.

If you are interested in ordering coasters, please contact me through email.

Thank you.

Just for fun...

Tyler & Chloe playing with some camouflage stuff that Grandma Dany had.

It was a very random outfit, but very cute!

Where's Tyler?

When Isaac was a baby, he saw Tyler & Chloe playing with that same "camo" thing...

...and decided he wanted to play with it when he got old enough!

Where's Isaac?

Purpose Statement

I want to know God more deeply...
therefore, I must seek Him daily.

I want to be like Christ...
therefore, I must study His character.

I want to cherish and inspire my husband...
therefore, I must put my wants aside and go out of my way to help him.

I want to have warmth and peace in my home...
therefore, I must submit to my husband and allow God to do His work.

I want to impact my children in a Godly way...
therefore, I must teach them about Him and give them the same grace, love and forgiveness He's given me.

I want to believe that God can do in my children's lives what I cannot do...
therefore, I must put my faith in Him and pray for them daily.

I want people to know I am a Christian...
therefore, I must stop focusing on myself and find ways to serve others and them about Jesus.

This summer, my mentor and I met weekly and did the study from the book, "Calm My Anxious Heart" by Linda Dillow. In one of the chapters, she challenges the reader to come up with a purpose statement for their life, which is what you just read from me above. It was very challenging but worth it. I had written out all of the "wants" in my life (the important ones), but wasn't doing much to get it done. I asked God what I needed to do to have my wants fulfilled and that is where the "therefore, I must..." came in. My purpose statement helps me direct my focus back to Him when life seems to get out of hand. I would recommend praying and asking God to give you a "purpose statement" for your life, too!

The Perfect Potato Soup

Yukon Gold Potatoes (8 to 10)
Cauliflower (1/2 a bunch)
Yellow Onion (1)
Celery (2)
Parsley
Chicken Stock/Water (8 to 10 cups)
Paprika
Salt & Pepper
Sharp Cheddar Cheese (approx 2 cups)
Sour Cream (approx 1 cup)

Sautee the onions & celery in butter until soft. Add chicken stock (or water), potatoes and cauliflower and bring to boil. Boil until potatoes & cauliflower are tender. Turn to low heat. Add paprika, parsley, salt & pepper. Then add cheese and sour cream and let it simmer for 20 minutes.

Serve with garlic bread.

Note: The amounts are just to get you started. I never measure any of it...I just keep adding until it takes good! I also use both the chicken stock & water...even amounts of both.

Thanks Mommy for this wonderful recipe, we LOVE it!

Trip to Kansas City

It's tradition. Every year my dad takes a trip up to Kansas City to go to a Kansas City Chiefs football game with his brother, my Uncle Patrick. This year was extra special since the Chiefs were playing the Dallas Cowboys, which is my dad's favorite team! At the last minute I decided to go along for the ride with Isaac to spend some time with my dad and hang out with my Aunt Lori and cousins (Garrison, Taylor, and Morgan).

Even though I was excited to go, I was feeling bad about leaving Chad but he kept reassuring me that I just needed to go and have fun! The night before we left my dad called and told me that there was an extra ticket to the game so if I wanted to go I could (now I really felt guilty that I was going and not Chad). I really had no intentions of going to the game...I didn't even pack extra warm clothes.

We had a really nice visit with the family. Isaac loved "Tito" the pug and "Flip-Flop" the cat. He also enjoyed giving Taylor kisses when she asked for them and even though her friend Lindsey asked for kisses too, the phone is all she got! We planned to watch Marley & Me that evening, however, Aunt Lori accidentally recorded it in Spanish! Football was turned on so Isaac & I went to bed.

Well, Uncle Pat convinced me that I needed to go to the game...(again, feeling guilty it's me and not Chad)...so they dressed me in Chiefs colors. The people around me probably thought I was a little confused as I rooted for the Cowboys. For those of you who know me...I am not much of a sports fan. I don't enjoy watching it on t.v. but when you have a husband who loves it...it kind of rubs off on you. Personally, I would rather clean house than to sit around and watch a game. Anyhow, the game was so much fun. I am glad my uncle MADE me go! I will also add that my dad has been a Cowboys fan for as long as I can remember and this was his first time to see them play in person. It was a very special day...for the both of us!

Isaac's First Year

Since I got started a little late on blogging, I am trying to play "catch-up" and post some of my favorite pictures and memories. So for a while it might be a little out of order.

The following are pictures of Isaac in his first 12 months of life. I tried so hard to pick one per month but as you can see, I didn't succeed. Too many cute pictures to choose from.

I'll get to his 1st birthday soon!
